Reena — A Story Still Becoming
I am Reena.
A girl from a small town, where dreams are often felt deeply but spoken softly.
I left that town and arrived in Delhi with hope packed into a single suitcase. Hostel life, unfamiliar faces, and a fast-moving city tested me at first. Adjustment took time, but Delhi reshaped me quickly. I didn’t just survive there—I transformed. I became confident, expressive, and unmistakably a Delhi girl.
As a graphic designer, I worked on major projects with brands like Chilli Embassy and NDTV. My work spoke for me, and soon my name carried weight in creative circles. I was thriving, respected, and building a future I had imagined for myself.
Then life changed direction.
Marriage came, and with it, a pause I hadn’t planned for. I stepped away from my career and moved to Dubai with my little child. In a world that expects women to choose between ambition and motherhood, I chose both—quietly. I became a devoted mother while taking on flexible, part-time assignments in Dubai, Paris, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi. My days revolved around school bags, bedtime stories, and small creative windows carved out between responsibilities. Slowly, my universe began to orbit one tiny human—and I embraced it fully.
Life then took me to Kuala Lumpur. I completed a few assignments there, but my heart felt restless. Some places give you comfort, but not purpose. Eventually, I arrived in Singapore—full of opportunity, yet heavy with silence. After years of movement, living without my best friends felt like breathing without air. They weren’t just friends; they were my life and my lifeline. When my best friend arrived in Singapore, I started living again—and once more, I dared to chase my dreams.
I turned to writing.
I began contributing articles and blogs to Different Truths, an online newspaper and magazine. My words found readers, my voice found strength, and my articles gained recognition. Yet the desire to build something of my own never faded.
Soon after, my friends joined me in Singapore. Perhaps God knew what I was still learning—that alone I could survive, but together we could create. We launched Rosette, a brand built on trust, creativity, and shared belief. For a time, Rosette flourished in Singapore. Our designs were distinctive, thoughtful, and deeply loved.
Competition increased, and being locals or PR holders gave others advantages we didn’t have. Singapore’s systems favored familiarity. Despite having strong designs, sustaining the business became difficult. Today, much of our stock rests carefully stored in a room at Rekha’s house—not as failure, but as paused potential. Dreams don’t disappear; sometimes they wait.
We adapted instead of stopping.
We created Revibes, an event and exhibition organizing company. This time, we stood not as two, but as three friends—stronger, wiser, and united. Our exhibitions were successful, affirming our ability to build and execute. This year, we are planning to grow wider, think bigger, and reach further.
And yet, between planning and hoping, a question still lingers:
What now?
Maybe that question doesn’t mean uncertainty.
Maybe it means evolution.
I am a designer who learned patience.
A mother who learned balance.
A writer who found her voice again.
An entrepreneur who refuses to give up.
I am Reena.
